The war came a little closer today at Stortoget, Gamla Stan, Stockholm. Volunteer organisation Svenska Bussarna put on display an ambulance serving the frontline in Ukraine taking several hits. Svenska Bussarna is a non profit initiative that is focusing on humanitarian help for Ukraine.
Many years ago when I served my draft in the Danish military, I was tought the Geneve Convention, the rules for war. I don’t recall many details, but I’m pretty sure targeting at ambulances is not allowed.
This ambulance has saved lives -- help us save more!
This destroyed ambulance has been serving for several months the frontline in Ukraine. The route has passed through Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Bakhmut to the hospital in Dnipro. It has saved many lives in the midst of war and transported patients in dangerous conditions.
After months of hostile fire, it can no longer continue its mission. Now the ambulance is here in Stockholm -- on its last mission: Collecting donations for new vehicles that can continue the evacuation of wounded fighters from Ukraine's front lines.
