Skansberget

South of Stockholm lies Tullinge, and just north of Tullinge lies Skansberget, a hill overlooking Tullinge Lake. 1500 years ago the water level was higher and the fresh water lakes of Alby and Tullinge were likely a brackish inlet of the Baltic Sea.

Remains of Iron Age fortifications are scattered around Tullinge Lake and when you visit Skansberget today the traces of defensive walls are still clearly seen.

Within walking distance of where I live, I took the dog for a hike on a sunny day in June.

The trail leading up from the main gate to the larger northern plateau. The terrain is rough so be prepared for some climbing.
The marked trail leads you through the main entrance to the fortress where you still clearly see man made walls.
A signpost next to the trail gives an overview (in Swedish only) of the location.
