Hex

Hex is a two player abstract game from 1942. It has a great learning curve: The rules are super simple and as you play you quickly realise there is quite some skill required to win. The steps below let you create a beautiful copy of the game in the beginner size, 11x11. Once you know the game, you will want to move on to larger sizes.

Here is how you construct an 11x11 beginner board.

Board

Engrave/cut from 300x400mm 5.5mm thick plywood.

Rotate to match the material.

Settings for Beambox:

Engrave dots: P15 S150

Engrave lines: P15 S20

Cut frame: P60 S14 PC9

Gently cut with a knife to pop out the board from the frame if the laser does not cut through the plywood completely.

Sandpaper sides and wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Pieces

You will need 60 black and 60 white pieces.

Cut them from black and white acrylic. 20mm circles.

Pouches

To keep the player pieces, sew two pouches.
